■ Positions: We are accepting resumes for in-house counsel positions within the Legal Division
(offices located in Seoul, Korea).
■ Potential duties include:
- Managing litigation and arbitration, including consumer class actions, complex antitrust litigation,
and commercial disputes, in the United States, Europe, Canada, and other foreign jurisdictions.
Managing counsel is responsible for selecting and supervising outside counsel, coordinating internal support,
and reporting to the General Counsel on developing issues of international dispute resolution.
- Supporting contract negotiations, reviewing contract terms, and reporting legal risks to management.
Supported contract types include
M&A proposals, sales and procurement documents, MOUs, and confidentiality agreements in various
jurisdictions worldwide.
- Fostering company-wide compliance to a rapidly changing global legal environment.
In support of this function, counsel is expected to actively monitor changes in the global
legal and regulatory landscape, assess and advise management on internal compliance risks,
and develop effective compliance programs for the employees of LG Electronics, Inc.
- Providing legal assistance to over 100 wholly-owned subsidiaries of LG Electronics, Inc.
Assistance includes guidance to subsidiary business units regarding various subsidiary projects,
monitoring subsidiary activity for compliance risks, and implementing policies and procedures
in a manner complying with all local laws and regulations.
- Working with technical departments to ensure that product designs are fully compliant
with the data privacy regulations of the jurisdictions in which they are sold.
- Performing antitrust and competition reviews of agreements and policies, and
providing antitrust and competition-related guidance to the various
business departments and divisions of LG Electronics Inc.
■ Key qualifications:
- 0-6 years of litigation or transactional experience
- Licensed in a US jurisdiction
- Proficiency in Korean
- Willingness to relocate to Korea
